Fencing Tools

Fencing tools and accessories have become one of our biggest and most popular ranges at RGH Supplies. We specialise in professional-quality tools for agricultural, stock, equestrian and contractor fencing, with products suitable for everything from a one-off fencing repair to installing miles of new stock fence.

A large part of our professional fencing tool range comes from Strainrite Fencing Systems in New Zealand. Strainrite tools have earned an excellent reputation with fencing contractors and our range now includes chain strainers, boundary strainers, wire pullers, fencing pliers, crimping tools, staple pullers, ratchet strainers, wire cutters, strain gauges and a wide selection of replacement parts and accessories.

We also stock specialist fencing equipment from Wireman Fencing Equipment in Australia, including the Viceman, Strain Walker Pro, Jack the Gripper, Chain Grab Boundary Strainer, Star Striker, DeBarber and BOBEX in-line wire strainers.

We added Mudslice to our range in 2026, from the creator of Bushpig fencing tools, bringing HEavy Duty spades and other helpful accessories to the Market

Alongside these specialist fencing brands you will find tools and equipment from Gripple, Milwaukee, Stock-Ade, Bostitch, Knipex, Tornado, Fiskars and other trusted manufacturers. We also stock Taurus Leather Company fencing aprons, tool belts, nail bags, pouches and leggings for contractors who want to keep their tools organised and close to hand.

Whether you need to strain wire, join or repair a fence, dig post holes, drive or remove staples, cut high-tensile wire or simply replace a worn-out part on an existing tool, there is a good chance we have what you need.

Gripple Fencing Products

We have stocked Gripple products for many years and carry an extensive range for agricultural fencing, repairs and tensioning.

Gripple wire joiners offer a fast and simple alternative to traditional knots and joins. Our range includes Gripple Plus Medium joiners, barbed wire joiners, T-Clips, GP1s, Gripple Twisters, starter packs, repair kits, Contractor Tools, Torq Tools and associated fencing accessories.

For somebody installing a new fence or repairing an existing one, the combination of Gripple joiners and a tensioning tool can make joining, repairing and tensioning wire considerably quicker. We also supply Gripple products in larger quantities for contractors and customers working on bigger projects.

If you're unsure which Gripple is suitable for your wire or application, give us a call – we use and sell these products regularly and are always happy to help.

Wire Twisting & Tying Off

Traditionally, tying off fencing wire involves bending the wire to create a lever and wrapping the loose end around the main wire. It works well, but anybody who has done a lot of it knows how hard it can be on your hands and thumbs.

Wire twisting tools – often called thumb savers – make the job much easier. The tool hooks onto the main line while the loose wire sits in a groove, allowing you to form a neat wrap around the line without having to put the same pressure through your thumbs.

They are simple tools, but they are particularly useful for anyone who doesn't tie fencing wire every day. We stock wire twisting tools for making neat, consistent tie-offs when installing or repairing stock fencing.

Digging & Post Hole Tools

Most fencing jobs start with a hole in the ground. Whether you're putting up a completely new fence, replacing an old strainer post or repairing an existing run, having the right digging tools can save a huge amount of time.

We stock a selection of post hole diggers, including traditional double-handled designs and deeper-digging alternatives, together with post hole spades, grafts, bars and other tools useful for breaking ground and working around fencing posts.

Traditional post hole diggers use two handles with digging blades at the bottom. Once the soil has been loosened, the handles allow you to grip and lift the material from the hole. Different designs suit different ground conditions and depths, so it is worth choosing the right tool for the amount of fencing you intend to do.

For larger fencing jobs, powered augers and machinery-mounted equipment can dramatically increase productivity, although good hand digging tools remain essential for repairs, awkward locations and working where machinery cannot reach.

Whenever digging for fencing posts, remember that underground services may be present. Their location should be established before work begins and appropriate equipment and safe working practices used.

Wire Straining & Tensioning Tools

Getting the correct tension into a fence is one of the most important parts of the installation. A properly strained fence performs better, looks better and is far more effective at keeping livestock where they belong.

Our wire tensioning range includes equipment from Strainrite, Wireman and Gripple, covering everything from individual line wires to complete rolls of stock fencing.

We stock chain strainers, boundary strainers, wire pullers, clamp strainers, ratchet strainers, tension gauges and wire gripping tools, as well as replacement components for many of the professional tools we sell.

Strainrite remains one of our core ranges for professional wire straining, with tools including contractor chain strainers, boundary clamps, Easy Wire Pullers, anchor chains and ratchet systems.

Our Wireman range gives contractors some additional options, including the Strain Walker Pro, Chain Grab Boundary Strainer, Jack the Gripper and BOBEX. The BOBEX is a particularly handy in-line strainer which can tension or join barbed, plain and high-tensile wire without having to cut the existing line.

For quick repairs and joining, Gripple products provide another straightforward way of joining and tensioning fencing wire.

Fencing Pliers, Cutters & Staple Pullers

A good pair of fencing pliers is one of those tools that tends to live permanently in a fencing contractor's truck.

Our range includes tools for cutting wire, pulling staples, hammering staples, gripping, crimping and straining, from manufacturers including Strainrite, Milwaukee, Knipex, Stock-Ade and others.

For staple removal we stock dedicated tools such as the Strainrite Staplepull and Stock-Ade Staplemate, as well as more general-purpose fencing pliers. These can make dismantling or repairing an existing fence considerably quicker than trying to remove old staples with standard hand tools.

Fencing Aprons, Tool Belts & Contractor Equipment

Good fencing tools are much more useful when you can actually reach them.

We now stock a range of Taurus Leather Company professional fencing aprons, tool belts, nail bags, phone and diary pouches and protective leggings. These are particularly useful for contractors carrying staples, pliers, cutters, hammers and other hand tools up and down a fence line.

Combined with our range of professional hand tools, they allow you to build a fencing setup suited to the way you work rather than repeatedly walking back to the truck for the next tool.

Staple Guns

Powered fencing staplers have changed the way many contractors fix stock fencing to timber posts. For larger jobs, a fencing staple gun can save a considerable amount of time and physical effort compared with driving every staple by hand.

We currently stock fencing staplers, staples and accessories from Stock-Ade, Milwaukee and DeWalt, alongside traditional fencing staples and staple-removal tools.

Milwaukee M18 Fencing Stapler

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL Fencing Stapler (M18FFUS) has become an important addition to our professional fencing range. Being part of Milwaukee's M18 cordless system, it is an especially attractive option for contractors who already run Milwaukee M18 batteries and tools.

The stapler fires 9-gauge collated barbed fencing staples from 40mm to 50mm and can be used for applications including livestock fencing, high-tensile wire, barbed wire and other wire fencing fixed to timber posts.

One of its biggest advantages is that it is completely battery powered, so there are no gas cartridges or compressors required. Milwaukee quotes up to 600 staples from a 3.0Ah REDLITHIUM battery, making it well suited to long runs of fencing.

The tool also has adjustable staple depth, allowing the staple to be driven to the required depth without unnecessarily crushing the fencing wire. Other useful features include a quick-access jam-clearing hatch, dry-fire lockout, good visibility of the fixing point and Milwaukee's Ready to Fire system.

We stock the Milwaukee M18 fencing stapler as well as compatible 40mm and 50mm hot-dip galvanised fencing staples, and we offer different kit options for customers who either already own M18 batteries or need a complete fencing stapler setup.

Stock-Ade Staplers

Stock-Ade has been a well-established name in powered fencing staplers for many years. Based in New Zealand, its tools have been developed specifically around the needs of fencing contractors.

We stock the Stock-Ade ST-400i cordless gas fencing stapler, together with compatible barbed staples, batteries, chargers and other accessories.

For contractors doing substantial amounts of stock fencing, powered staplers can quickly justify their place in the truck by reducing the time and effort involved in fixing wire to posts.

Stock-Ade also manufactures the Staplemate, a heavy-duty multipurpose fencing tool designed for pulling staples, cutting wire, gripping and hand-straining wire during repairs and dismantling work.

DeWalt Fencing Staplers & Staples

We also stock DeWalt fencing staples and associated fencing equipment, giving contractors another cordless option, particularly where they already use the DeWalt battery platform.

With Milwaukee, Stock-Ade and DeWalt products available alongside traditional hand-driven staples, we can help you choose a stapling system based on how much fencing you do, the type of fencing you're installing and the cordless tools you already use.

Professional Fencing Tools from RGH Supplies

Our fencing tool range has grown considerably over the years because many of these products have come directly from conversations with fencing contractors and customers looking for better ways of doing a job.

Today we stock everything from simple wire twisters and cutters through to professional chain strainers, boundary clamps, powered fencing staplers, Gripple systems, post hole tools and contractor tool belts.

If you're setting up for fencing work, replacing an old tool or looking for a better way to tackle a particular fencing job, give RGH Supplies a call, email us or pop in and see us. We're always happy to talk through the options and help you find the right tool for the job.
