Bonanza Milky Way Concentrated Calf Milk Replacer is a concentrated, skim-milk-based milk replacer developed for artificial calf rearing. Formulated using milk-derived proteins and a blend of plant oils, Milky Way is designed to provide concentrated nutrition while using less powder than a conventional calf milk replacer feeding programme.

Available in 600kg and 1.2 tonne bulk quantities, Bonanza Milky Way is supplied in individual 20kg bags and delivered directly from the supplier.

• Two bulk-buy options: 600kg and 1.2 tonne.

• 600kg quantity: 30 × 20kg bags.

• 1.2 tonne full pallet: 60 × 20kg bags.

• Concentrated, skim-milk-based calf milk replacer containing milk-derived proteins.

• Formulated with skim milk, buttermilk, whey ingredients and plant oils.

• Suitable for different feeding methods, including twice-daily feeding and automatic calf feeders.

• Direct-from-supplier delivery for both bulk-buy quantities.

Bonanza Milky Way has been developed to provide a concentrated source of milk-based nutrition for calves. Unlike conventional calf milk replacers, Milky Way is formulated so that a smaller daily quantity of powder can provide a substantial amount of milk protein and energy.

The manufacturer states that Milky Way contains 40–50% more milk protein and energy than standard calf milk, although this is a manufacturer comparison and the exact difference will depend on the product used as a reference.

Concentrated Milk Protein and Energy

Milky Way is based on skim milk and uses a combination of milk-derived ingredients, including buttermilk and selected whey ingredients.

Bonanza states that feeding 500g of Milky Way provides approximately 100g of milk protein. The manufacturer compares this with the milk protein supplied by approximately 650–700g of standard milk powder.

This concentration is one of the key features distinguishing Milky Way from other products in the Bonanza calf milk replacer range.

Buttermilk and Plant Oil Blend

Bonanza Milky Way also contains a blend of plant oils and buttermilk.

According to Bonanza, a 500g daily allowance of Milky Way provides approximately 120g of plant oils and buttermilk combined.

These ingredients contribute to the overall nutritional formulation and help distinguish the product from less concentrated milk replacers.

Developed for Efficient Calf Milk Feeding

Bonanza promotes Milky Way as a way to reduce the quantity of powder and water required in a calf-rearing programme while maintaining an appropriate nutritional supply.

The manufacturer has published results from Harper Adams University trials in 2016 and 2017, reporting daily liveweight gains of approximately 0.95–0.99kg up to 12 weeks of age in calves fed 500g of Milky Way daily.

These are reported trial results, not a guaranteed growth rate. Actual calf performance depends on age, genetics, milk and starter feed intake, health, housing and overall management.

Suitable for Different Feeding Methods

Bonanza identifies Milky Way as suitable for all feeding methods.

Published product literature describes its use in twice-daily feeding programmes and through automatic calf milk feeding equipment.

Because Milky Way is a concentrated formulation, it is particularly important to follow the manufacturer's current mixing instructions rather than substituting the mixing rate used for another calf milk replacer.

Feeding and Preparation

Bonanza's published Milky Way literature describes a standard prepared milk concentration of 125g powder per litre of finished milk replacer, but the instructions for preparing this concentration differ from simply adding 125g powder to one litre of water.

Always follow the current product packaging for the correct powder-to-water ratio, feeding quantities, preparation temperature and feeding schedule.

Ensure newborn calves receive adequate, timely colostrum before beginning an appropriate milk-feeding programme.

Provide clean drinking water, suitable calf starter feed and appropriate forage, and maintain good hygiene when preparing milk replacer and cleaning feeding equipment.

Bonanza Milky Way Concentrated Calf Milk Replacer is available in 600kg (30 × 20kg bags) and 1.2 tonne (60 × 20kg bags, full pallet) bulk quantities. This concentrated, skim-milk-based calf milk replacer combines milk-derived proteins, buttermilk, whey ingredients and plant oils. Designed to provide concentrated milk protein and energy, Milky Way is suitable for different calf feeding methods, including automatic feeders. Both bulk-buy options are delivered directly from the supplier.
