Due to the faster growth cycle of sweet chestnut, ready to harvest in 12-30 years, it makes it four times as replenishable as slower growing species such as Ash and Oak trees which take 50-100 years.
Stock availability varies throughout the year and often fluctuates due to seasonal demand, it is also only cut during winter when the sap is down so there is often even more of a shortage during Summer/Autumn.
